How do you get rid of black marks on washing machine rim?
I live in the Midlands and we have really hard water, just recently the rubber rim of my washing machine has gone black and no amount of scrubbing shifts it. I regularly use Calgon to prevent limescale build up but it doesn't have an effect on this stuff, anybody had similar problems and have you any advice on how to get rid?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the black that you're seeing is actually rotting rubber. The rubber rim often will rot if the washing machine door is always kept closed. The rim needs to dry between loads.
The only way to fix the problem is to replace the rubber. No chemical and no amount of scrubbing will restore the rubber at this point. It is rotten.
You can avoid this problem in the future by always leaving your washer door open when the machine is not in use.
