They're gray and maybe blue in the morning 'cause I see 'em when I put my makeup on, but later on people say that I have pretty electric blue eyes. Then after I eat lunch everybody says that they wish they had my DARK GREEN eyes. Well, now it's 7:30 pm and they're green with a navy blue circle around them. I don't get it!
The color of the eye comes as a result of the amount of melanin or pigment that is in the iris. Blue is from little or no melanin and green is from more melanin. I would suspect that the size of the pupil might be involved. When you have small pupils the iris and it's melanin is being stretched thin and more sparse making the eye more blue. When the pupils are large it causes the iris and it's melanin to bunch up and become thicker and denser making the eyes look greener.
