Was found in a pail of wax or grease. The lid on the can desinagrated and the pail was brittle. It it was a solid brass figure. What might it be and is there a site that can help. The right foot is a hoof and the left leg is a finger. It has wings and a beak as well as a bird like head.
It almost sounds, from your description, as if it could be a representation of some ancient deity.
