CLICKSYS is a new PV roof-mounting system that has been designed for roofs with up to a 12/12 pitch, and from zero to forty-five degrees. Introduced in May, 2009, the innovative, aluminum I-beam design does not require the use of nuts, bolts, or drilling, thus saving considerably on materials and installation costs. The system offers an aesthetically pleasing appearance while reducing material and labor costs. And, in addition to flexibility of installation, the strength of the I-beams is also equal to that of conventional systems.
The connections are first "clicked" together, then the connection is slid onto the roof and secured. CLICKSYS offers increased flexibility with a wide array of attachments for most shingle and tile roofing materials, and will support most PV modules. The constraints of module mounting holes are eliminated with the use of sliders and top mounting clamps. Another installation time saver is QuickMount flashing. A variety of grounding options are also available for the CLICKSYS system. The PV modules can be mounted with a clearance allowance from 2-8" off the roof. Since increased heat can decrease solar efficiency, this allows for natural convection. This feature also enables the specifications for many different PV modules to be easily met.
The unique I-beam system from Unirac does not require any drilling, and uses far less material than conventional standard box frame rail systems. The beams are available in standard 144" lengths. The cost for this innovative mounting solution is as low as 10 cents per watt, and the product carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
