how much for an energy star half glass entrance door with installation?
We plan to replace the existing 35 year old wood entrance door with a half glass entrance door. Our town house management proposed a contractor who provides & installs an energy star half glass (frosted with design) entrance door with a fully frosted glass side. The neighbors said the price of about $1,000 is attractive. This includes tax, removal & disposal of the existing one, the frame, the weather strips & threshold. They don't provide the lock but will install it. Is this the right price? The choice of design is very limited. This is a package. How much would be right for the installation & the rest if I buy a pre-hung door from the big box store?
Go to Home Depot or Lowes (you can check them out online) and choose the door you want. Then, add to the purchase price $150-$200 for installation. That should give you some basis to compare what they are quoting you. I'd say $1,000 isn't too bad.
