Best way to sell art?
I can't not work anymore because I have my grandparents to take care of. They are 90 years old. Therefore I have to find a way to make money at home. I have always painted a little and the last couple of years I have been into One Stroke Decorative Painting by Donna Dewberry. I paint vases, dishes, wooden objects, flower pots,...anything I can get my hands on. When I worked, I would decorate my desk and coworkers would ask me to paint for them. I sold some that way. But now that I don't work I need a new way to get my work 'noticed'. I found a local store that I paid a small rent to in exchange for shelf space. I did sell my work, however the store wasn't busy enough to keep paying the rent. So that didn't work. I have thought about flea markets, maybe creating a website....Anyone have another idea? I can also paint landscapes in oil and acrylic, however I am a novice in that area. I excel in decorative painting.

etsy.com (free store front and 20 cents a listing)
Bonanzle.com (free store front, free listings I think, check it out)
These are the best ways to go. I started just like you! I rented space and found the temp girls were practically giving away my decorative art. Then I found ebay and took off from there.
You can also do festivals and arts and crafts shows outdoors. Get some business cards (vista print, just pay shipping) and you can find festivals, etc online close by. They're fun.
You should do a webpage also! Godaddy is good for domain names and they're not expensive. Join Google and get your website listed on their search engines. Be very careful to get your own site, though, because others like Yahoo can charge you oodles of money to use their space to sell.
