Can I writeoff a room as a home office if it's a guest bedroom that is used once/year max for sleeping?
We have a guest bedroom in the house.
It has a bed, a desk, and a closet. The room is ONLY used for sleeping once/year (when a relative comes in). Can I write this off as a home office? If so, and I get audited, will the IRS consider it an office?
You need to first determine of you qualify to take a deduction for using your home for work. Secondly you should determine what "space" you are using and what percentage of the time do you use it for that purpose. Once you have all of those you may just be able to take that deduction.
