Palm Tree/Plant Help!!?
i got a palm tree for christmas. i transfered it to a bigger pot using plant soil and the decorative rocks on top that it came with. it looks so sad and unhealthy. theres a couple of lims that are completely yellow. should i cut those off? should i add sand to the dirt? ive kept it outside the last week because the temp isnt getting below 60 at night, but it was inside before that.
what should i do?
Palm tree leaves turn yellow naturally and then to brown. You may leave the leaves as do no damage.
The possible problems for yellow leaves are many. A common problem is nutrient deficiency. Lacking in potassium is the most common. Manganese, nitrogen, and magnesium deficiencies are the next most common reason for yellowing leaves.. Too much water or too little water also cause yellow leaves. The worse condition is lethal yellowing as it is fatal to the palm.
I would first make certain the pot drains well. Place your finger one inch into the soil and if moist do not water until dry. Place in the sun until the soil is dry. Then add a little palm food and water. Hopefully this will help
