Im getting married in November, my fiance and I have decided to have a beach wedding as its our favourite place. My parents are now wanting me to change the venue to be closer to home (venue is 2hours away) even though all the deposits have been made. Its really frustrating as since we started planning this wedding its been so negative. Most of the stuff is already done, invitations printed, accommodation sorted, venue, catering and decor. I wanted to be proative but now its seems i have gone about everything the wrong way. I dont know what to do now, its my wedding day and I want to get married on the beach not in my home town. How do i convince my family otherwise?
Tell them that it means a lot to you and your fiance to get married at your favourite place. They should understand that! If the wedding is in November and the invitations have already been printed then you have given people plenty of notice that the venue is 2 hrs away. Your guests can choose whether or not they want to drive there, or car pool, or not come at all etc.
The wedding is about you and your fiance, and you should be as happy as you can be on that day. Tell your parents that their constant negativity is really hurting you and making it hard for you to be happy and excited about your upcoming wedding.
You should take their wishes into consideration but you do not have to bow to their every whim. Is there something small that they have suggested that you would be happy to do, so they know that you're not completely ignoring them?
