How to get order at the dinner table? It's like a chimp's tea party in my kitchen!
Every mealtime descends into farce. My two youngest children always get the giggles at mealtimes. I'm not expecting everyone to sit there in stony silence. I have a sense of humour and I love to hear my children laugh but I would like to have one meal that didn't involve me having to tell people off. To make it worse sometimes I struggle to keep my own face straight so I'm not setting the best example. Any suggestions?
They are 6+8 by the way.
Our dinner time is a riot and I love it. There are 5 of us and we laugh all through dinner. (and yes sometimes our humor is off-color and inappropriate) My kids are 11-17 and I have to remind them not to act like this at restaurants or other people's homes, but they know that. As long as they aren't being disrespectful and destructive, have some fun.
