My husband and I decided to completely change our bedroom. We took out everything, the bedding, curtains, decor, accessories, furniture and ripped up the carpet. What a mess! But underneath the old carpet was a beautiful hardwood floor. It took a lot of work sanding, buffing, and then a great wax job, AWESOME!
Now came choosing the colors, not easy to do with a man and a woman. We agreed on nothing forever. Finally we decided to just paint the walls white with a pale green trim, I HATE GREEN, we put pine wall board on one wall. We chose for the bedding and accessories a darker green with tan background to match the pine.Darker green curtains pulled back with a light tan sheer. Looking good. We put the furniture back only my husband added storage under the bed and put shelves in the closet giving me so much more storage space.
For the decor I went with Indian things such as dream catchers, peace pipe, axe all with the feathers to match our colors. I have pictures of the Indian princess and warriors. Have to have the main decor the white buffalo and wolves. I added decorative pillows and my favorite baby deer.
I don't like green but the room came together and it is beautiful. I'm so happy we did not argue over the bedding, accessories, decor and curtains. What does men know anyway? I love my new bedroom, my husband is ok with the Indian things. Its just not any thing he has encountered before.
It took a lot of hard work and working together, plus we did all the work instead of hiring someone to come in. We did the work at our own pace, we know it was good quality all the way, where as if someone else comes in you never know what is done unless you stay right on top of them. Plus some contractors use cheap material to cut corners and that puts money in their pocket and your left with a job that wont last, wont hold up or if your nor happy with the work you are just stuck. Its quiet costly to come up with the money all at once for a contractor. Doing the work yourselves its pay as you go. We did not go in dept, everything is paid and its gives one the feeling of pride to say WE DID THIS!
